Adani ready to sell coal from Carmichael mine

1000’s of Queensland mining jobs one step closer as Adani locks in Carmichael mine coal buyers

The Adani Carmichael mine in the Queensland Galilee Basin is yet to be built. For years, the project has been slowly edging closer to the time when the green light is one and it’s all systems go!

Despite the new Queensland labor government announcing it would not be financing the Adani rail link to the yet to be built mine; and the constant opposition from Green groups, then mine infrastructure development looks increasingly likely to start this year.

China and Korea lining up to take Queensland coal

Further hints that the Carmichael mine project is getting closer came this week when reports out of India stated Adani Enterprises were in talks with power companies and coal traders in different countries with a view to selling coal from its mines in Queensland.

It seems countries like China and Korea have shown an interest in securing coal shipments from the proposed Adani Carmichael mine.

“Australia`s largest thermal coal mine”

The Carmichael coal, railway and port project is huge by any standards. Building Australia`s largest thermal coal mine in the north Galilee Basin in Central Queensland will take a lot of manpower and will create thousands of jobs for Queenslanders.

Owing to the inland location of the new mine, a massive 380km standard gauge rail line will be constructed to a new coal loading terminal at Abbot Point near Bowen. Korean firm POSCO have already been given the contract to manage the railway construction.

“10,000 direct and indirect jobs in mining”

It’s thought the Carmichael mine, rail and port operations will create over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs in mining as well as create huge opportunities for local businesses to cash in on the mine.

Adani Group has said the Carmichael mine will output some 60 million tonnes of coal per annum when it is fully operational.
