AUSSIE MINING JOBS

UPDATE- Expression of interest now open

The Adani Group says it will employ Australians for its mining jobs before foreign workers at its proposed coal mine in the Galilee Basin, north of Emerald, Queensland. The first opportunities for employment will be in the construction of the train line from the mine to the coastline near the Great Barrier Reef.

The types of roles that will be available will include a mix of trades like boilermakers, welders and fitters and also hundreds of labour intensive jobs to assist in creating the large scale civil project.

New starters are urged to start positioning them selves for employment once the contracts are awarded. Because this project is a coal mine in Queensland there are some requirements that are mandatory. See the list below:

Standard 11 Mining Induction

Black Coal Haul Truck Ticketif you are looking to drive Dump Trucks.

Other tickets that would assist but are not mandatory would be Confined Space, Work at Heights

You can call the office to discuss the requirements if needed or click on the links to find out more information.

The Adani Group has purchased a sprawling Moray Downs cattle station, to accommodate the mine and plans to build a new town to support its operations.

Moray Downs sits over about one-third of the total resource in the Galilee Basin.

To support the new mining jobs, Adani has plans for a runway, airstrip, a 500km railway line and Australia's largest operating coal mine by 2022. Their infrastructure plans will be India's single biggest investment in the country.

Adani is talking to the Federal Government about special visas to fill mine jobs with overseas workers.

But an Adani spokesperson today said the company would employ Australians before it sourced workers from overseas.

Australian mine workers always first preference for new mining jobs

"Australian workers will always be the first preference for Adani," the spokesperson said.

"We have always maintained that Adani Mining will exhaust all available work sources for projects within Australia before using overseas workers."
